Frances Meeks Lynch

   Frances Yvonne Meeks Lynch, 88, of 307 Oneida Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 in her home.

   Mrs. Lynch was born on June 12, 1928, in Valdosta, GA and was the daughter of the late Demery and Audrey Chitty Meeks. A retired accountant/secretary with Virginia Chemicals, she later was the director of the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry, and was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Norman, Malcolm, Milton, and Frank Meeks.

   Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Joseph James Lynch; three daughters, Patricia Allison and husband Arthur of Chesapeake, VA, Sheryl Crawley of Crofton, MD, and Kathy Y. Martinez and husband Jaime of Williamsburg, VA; and two sisters-in-law, Mabel and Lila Meeks.  Also surviving are Joe’s children, Eileen, Mary, Thomas, Joseph, Daniel, and James.  Together Frances and Joe shared 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

   A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne Catholic Church and will be conducted by Father Carlos Arce and Deacon Frank Jones. The burial will be that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
