Teddie Richard Wright

   Teddie Richard “Ted” Wright, 80, of 225 Tip Toe Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mr. Wright was born in Chowan County on July 5, 1936, and was the son of the late Rupert Edgar and Elizabeth Rogerson Wright. A retired Senior Master Sergeant with the US Air Force, he later had been employed for many years with Atlantic Forest Products. Memberships enjoyed included the Optimist Club, Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion, and charter membership in the John A. Holmes Hunter Safety Shooting Team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie Overton and Lorean Wright, and by a brother, Sam Wright.

   Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mercedes Figueras Wright; a daughter, Elizabeth Wright Gurkin and husband David of Ayden; a son, Kevin Wright and wife Lisa of Edenton; two grandchildren, Natalie Gurkin Brown and husband Will and Tyler Matthew Oliver; and a great-granddaughter.

   A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Pastor Bernie Hurdle. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
