Barbara G. Lynch

   Barbara G. Lynch, 54, of Morgan's Corner Road, Elizabeth City, NC passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Lynch was born in Portsmouth, VA on June 20, 1962, and was the daughter of Loretta Ann Richards of St. Louis, MO and the late Carlos Gene Richards, Sr.  She was employed as a people greeter at Walmart in Elizabeth City and found great enjoyment in her work and developed many lasting friendships with her customers and co-workers through the years.  She attended South Mills Church of Christ and found happiness in her faith.  Her beautiful life will be forever cherished.

   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Keith Stokes, and by her eldest daughter, Amanda Loretta Stokes.

   Surviving along with her mother are her husband of 28 years, James Benson Lynch Jr.; her youngest daughter, Amy Michele Stokes of Hertford; two sisters Anola Annette Peterson of St. Louis and Kathy Peterson of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Carlos Gene Richards, Jr. of St. Louis; her beloved granddaughter, Amelia Anola Duncan; and many family members and friends whom all loved her dearly.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in South Mills Church of Christ, and will be officiated by Minister Ron Stuart with the eulogy delivered by, her daughter, Amy Stokes. A private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.  Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is handling the arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at any State Employees Credit Union, to be designated for a scholarship fund for her granddaughter, Amelia Anola Duncan.
