Ella Gray Crummey Potts, 87, of 243 Hawthorne Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Potts was born in Chowan County on July 2, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William and Geraldine Sanford Crummey. She had retired as an inspector with Seabrook Blanching Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Potts, and by her sisters, Elizabeth James, Edna Basnight, and Sadie Forward.
Surviving are two sons, William E. “Bill” Potts and wife Linda of Edenton, and Raymond M. “Ray” Potts and wife Debbie of Elizabeth City; a brother, William A. “Hawk” Crummey and wife Marina of Edenton; seven grandchildren, Marty Potts and wife Chrystal, Joey Potts and wife Jessica, Shelley Caballero, Jessica James and husband Eric, Jason Potts and fiancé Morgan, Michelle Chesnut and husband Ben, and Jennifer McCormack; and ten great-grandchildren, Rowan, Courtney, Rylan, Ethan, Brenner, Joely, Cameron, Morgan, Lauren, and Eli.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at Bill and Linda’s home, 119 Sunset Lane.
