Robert Wayne Harrell, Sr.

   Robert Wayne Harrell, Sr., 69, of 225 Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mr. Harrell was born in Chowan County on March 9, 1947, and was one of 15 children born to the late Elisha Cornelius and Dixie Belle Bunch Harrell. A former partner in Harrell Brothers Construction, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and the Oak Grove Hunting Club. In earlier years he was a member, deacon, and Sunday School Director at Immanuel Baptist Church in Edenton.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sallie Marie Copeland, Daisy Mae Harrell, Betty Ann Head, and Judy Bunch Harrell; by an infant brother, and by brothers, Lindsey, Willie, E.C., Percy, Herman, Mark, and David.

   Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gertrude Allen Harrell; three daughters, Felisa Bass and husband Neal, Alanna Bass and husband Trey, and LeAnn Nixon; a son, R. Wayne Harrell, Jr. and wife Donna; a sister, Emma Lou Evans; a brother, Roland Harrell; seven grandchildren, Michael and fiancé Olivia, Hunter, Gray, Hannah, Emma, Addisyn, and Katelyn, all of Edenton; and many nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by his pastor, Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery near the home.  Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
