Active with the Hertford Rotary Club for decades where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, he was also a fixture as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He was devoted to the Newbold-White House, serving as a volunteer for many years, always willing to step in when they were short-handed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Morris, and by a sister, Anita Morris McCoy and her husband, Harold. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Tatum Morris; two daughters, Barbara Morris and Melanie Morris James; a well-loved son-in-law, Derrick James; a beloved granddaughter, Mariah James; a sister-in-law, Janice Morris; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and friends and devoted caregivers, Rose White and Sam Hunter. He was blessed with many caring friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and will be officiated by Father Robert Beauchamp and Pastor Gene Boyce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the Parish Hall of the church following the service, and all other times at the residence.
