Joe Jerry Ward

   Joe Jerry Ward, 78, of 201 Luke Street, Edenton, NC, died Friday, February 3, 2017, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mr. Ward was born in Jackson County, NC on April 29, 1938, and was the son of the late Narvin Washington Ward and Lula Ashe Ward. A retired saw mill worker, he was a member of Wilmont Baptist Church in Sylva.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Cook, Pearl Hollingsworth, Margaret Hill, Dorothy Turpin, and Rosella Mathis; by his brothers, Freddy, Kenneth, Jack, Charles, and Roy Ward; and by the mother of his son, Patsy Elouise Nations.

   Surviving are his son, Jerry Steven Ward of Bryson City; his friend and companion, Joyce Foglesong of Edenton; two sisters, Frankie Dean of Sylva, and Ruby Morgan of Bryson City; and three grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. in Appalachian Funeral Service, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC. The family will receive friends there the two hours prior to the service.
