Mary Berry Carney

   Mary Geraldine Berry "Geri" Carney, 83, of 464 Snug Harbor Road, Hertford, NC, died Monday, February 6, 2017 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Carney was born in Virginia Beach, VA on March 22, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Bertron Webster, Sr. and Mary Izzetta Ranhorn Berry. Retired as the co-owner and operator of Angler's Cove Restaurant, she was a member of Hertford Untied Methodist Church and its Bertha Lane Circle, and was active with the Perquimans Arts League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clarence Carney, and by a brother, Kenneth Berry.

   Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Christine Boyette and husband Don of Kenly and Pamela Carney Midgett and husband Terry of Hertford; a sister, Kaye Kaiser of Mount Dora, FL; a brother, Bertron W. Berry, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church, and will be officiated by the Revs. Jane Leechford and Terry Williams. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the residence.
