Margaret Sykes Lingle

   Margaret Ellen Sykes Lingle, 94, of Fir Street, Hertford, NC, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation.

   Mrs. Lingle was born in Whitestone, VA on May 26, 1922, and was the daughter of the late William Timothy and Lucy Maude Joyner Sykes. A homemaker, she was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church.

   Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Vernon Eugene Lingle; two sons, Vernon E. Lingle, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX and Gary E. Lingle and wife Betsy of Williamsburg, VA; and two grandchildren, Kellie and Brian.

   In accordance with her wishes, her body was donated for medical research.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by her pastor, the Rev. Jane Leechford. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
