Alva Hundley Armstrong

   Alva Hundley Armstrong, 93, of 711 Surfside Drive, Edenton, NC died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Hertford.

   Mrs. Armstrong was born in Portsmouth, VA on June 11, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Ollie George, Sr. and Mary Coreana Foster Hundley.  Retired from Merchants & Farmers Bank, she was a member of Albemarle Baptist Church, a past member of Westhaven Baptist Church in Portsmouth, and had been active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Downing Ambrose Armstrong, five sisters, Louise Hall, Grace Lilley, Helen Drake, Odie Mae Smith, and Geraldine Bard, and by a brother, Ollie George Hundley, Jr.

   Surviving are her daughter, Donna Armstrong Boyce and husband David of Hobbsville; three grandchildren, Jill Hargett Robertson and husband Chris of Camden, Todd Hargett and wife Lauren, and D.J. Boyce, all of Hobbsville; three great-grandchildren, Avery Watson, and Ryan and Benjamin Hargett; and several loving nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by The Rev. Greg Brinson.  Burial will follow that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth.  Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the home of her daughter, 76 Spivey Road, Hobbsville.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Warwick Baptist Church, 4314 Virginia Road, Hobbsville, NC 27946.
