Carroll Edward Romney, Jr.

   Carroll Edward Romney, Jr., 73, of Greenwood Court, Hertford, NC, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017.

   Mr. Romney was born in Baltimore, MD on January 17, 1944, and was the son of the late Carroll Edward and Mary Curtin Romney. A graduate of Frostburg State University, he retired as a sales manager (C.L.U.) with Nationwide Insurance in 1999, and was currently employed as a real estate broker with Howard Hanna Real Estate of Elizabeth City. A member of both Piney Branch Golf Club in Hampstead, MD and The Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation, he also attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

   Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Susan Romney; two sons, Carroll Edward "Chip" Romney, III and wife Kristin of Leesburg, VA and Robert Russell "Rob" Romney of Corolla; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Romney of Yorktown, VA; and two grandsons, Clayton and Benjamin Romney.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and will be officiated by Father Robert Beauchamp. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the Albemarle Plantation Clubhouse immediately following the services on Thursday. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Tri-County Animal Shelter, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980 or to the SPCA of Northeastern NC, 102 Enterprise Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
