Charlie R. Cartwright, Jr.

   Charlie Raymond Cartwright, Jr., 84, of 714 Body Road, Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017, in his home where he was surrounded by his family.

   Mr. Cartwright was born in Pasquotank County on April 24, 1932, and was the son of the late Charlie Raymond, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Stevenson “Molly” Cartwright. A retired Lead Lineman with Dominion Power where he worked for 35 years, he was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church, and both the Durant’s Neck and Inter-County Ruritan Clubs. A veteran of the Korean War, he had served with the United States Air Force.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Cartwright; and by two sisters, Annie Sarah Barclift and Alice Frazier.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 49 years, Faye Pierce Cartwright; a daughter, Sherie E. Cartwright and friend Chris Lamoine of Hertford; two sons, Michael L. Cartwright and wife Patricia of Hertford and Jeffrey T. Cartwright and wife Wendy of Richlands; a sister, Arlie Wingard of New Bern; a brother, Frank Cartwright of Hahira, GA; seven grandchildren, Wes and Ryan Woodell, Kelly Sutton, Brittney Aydlette, and Casey, Megan, and Samantha Cartwright; and five great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Woodland United Methodist Church and will be conducted by Pastors Sherman Guthrie and Renee Edwards. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family at the residence.

   The family wishes to acknowledge Brooke, Dashia, Nona, Shelia, and Candace, for the wonderful and attentive care they gave their loved one during these last months of his declining health.
