Joyce Layden Bunch

   Joyce Layden Bunch, 75, of 2833 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, in her home.

   Mrs. Bunch was born in Perquimans County on September 20, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Oscar Richard “Dick” Layden and Louise Lane Layden. Retired from the dental office of Dr. Richard Hines, she and her late husband, Wilbur Ray Bunch, opened a produce stand in 1992, and she continued to work there seasonally until her death. She was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Faye Bailey.

   Surviving are her sons, Keith Bunch and wife Teresa of Edenton, and Kevin Bunch and wife Frankie of Clayton; two grandchildren, Dustin and Ashley Bunch; a great-grandson, Gavin; her brothers, Larry “Dickie” Layden and wife Frances, and Clyde Layden; and many nieces and nephews who brought her happiness.

   A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, Dr. James Horton. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service, and other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
