Billie Marshburn Ellington

   Billie Sue Marshburn Ellington, 57, of 210 Shoshone Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in her home.

   Mrs. Ellington was born in Carteret County on July 19, 1959, and was the daughter of Elizabeth Cannon Smead of Edenton and the late D.C. Marshburn. A waitress, she had been employed in area restaurants and most recently with Nothin Fancy Café & Market in Edenton. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Walter Henry Smead, and by a brother, Steven Marshburn.

   Surviving along with her mother are her husband of nearly 18 years, John Michael Ellington; two sons, Charlie Marshburn and wife Sarah of New London and Matthew Verzwyvelt of Greenville; three sisters, Mary Ann Runyun and Elizabeth Orrell, both of Edenton, and Cindy O’Clair of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Harper and Brendan Marshburn; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Terry Williams and Deacon Frank Jones. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
