Myrna Johnson Lowe, 76, of 032 Lowe Road, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Lowe was born in Gates County on October 4, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Lewis Preston and Marie Harrell Johnson. A homemaker, she was a member of Gatesville Baptist Church where she taught the children’s Sunday School, had served as the director of Vacation Bible School, and had been active in the W.M.U.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carlton Johnson.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 60 years, Harrell Randolph Lowe, Sr.; three sons, Richard L. Lowe and wife Annette, Alan W. Lowe and wife Sherl, and H. Randolph Lowe, Jr. and wife Kathy, all of Gatesville; two sisters, Rachel Marie Evans of Medina, OH, and Joyce Umphlett of Ahoskie; six grandchildren, Crystal Ashley and husband Grant, Matt Lowe and wife Stephani, Brittney Stevens and husband Alex, Hunt Lowe and wife Lauren, Kyle Lowe, and Katelyn Lowe; and two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Ashley and McKinley Stevens.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Gatesville Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Ray Brickhouse and Gene Asbill. Burial will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, or in the church social hall following the service on Tuesday, or all other times at the residence.
