George Alvin Knox

   George Alvin Knox, 78, of 210 Roanoke Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mr. Knox was born in Pender County on May 18, 1938, and was the son of the late George Allen and Blanche Gray Knox. A retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, he served for 23 years, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he saw three tours of duty. He was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and its “Sharing and Fellowship” Sunday School Class, and a charter member of the Rocky Hock Lions Club.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Anne Anderson Knox; his daughter, Diane Siveny and husband Al of Minot, ND; two sisters, Jean Baker of Greenville and Kay Murphy of Wilson; two brothers, Dalton and Jack Knox, both of Greenville; and a grandson, Devin.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by his pastor, Dr. James Horton. The committal service will be held at a later time in Arlington National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the building fund of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
