Roger Cullen Bunch

   Roger Cullen Bunch, 82, of Tyner, NC, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, in Edenton Prime Time.

   Mr. Bunch was born in Chowan County on April 17, 1934, and was the son of the late George Watkins Bunch and Blanche White Bunch. A retired Agriculture Chemicals Representative, he had received his Bachelor’s degree from NC State University. He was a faithful and lifelong member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, had been honored by being named Deacon Emeritus, and had served on both the Property and Grounds and the Bereavement Committees. Other interests included his love of sailing, being a Saddlebred enthusiast who competed in horse shows across the state, and always pulling for the Wolf Pack. He had proudly served in the United States Navy.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, S.J. and George Bunch.

   Surviving are his wife, Thelma Hare Bunch; and five children, Stacy, Sharon, Cullen, Gwen, and Blake. Also surviving are Thelma’s children, Melody, Kevin, and Holly.  Together Roger and Thelma shared 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

   A Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Ron Parr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the Family Life Center of the church immediately following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ballard’s Bridge Church, 3025 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC 27980, and be directed for use in the area of Property and Grounds.
