Robert Edward McNair

   Robert Edward “Bobby” McNair, 72, of Roper, NC, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Friday March, 31, 2017.

   Born in Anniston, AL on March 13, 1945, he was the son of the late William Levi and Emily Ruth Watkins McNair. A veteran, he served his country with the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and later retired from Civil Service. He was a member of Great Bridge Post 280 of the American Legion in Chesapeake, VA. No words can describe what a wonderful person Bobby was, a Rock to so many people. He knew no strangers and always had the best outlook on life.

   Bobby leaves behind the love of his life of 52 years, Patricia Anne McNair; two daughters, Wendy L. Amrhein and husband Brian of Virginia Beach, VA and Amy A. Benham and husband Fred of Chesapeake; a son, Robert E. McNair, Jr. and wife Amy Dawn of Moyock; two sisters, Mary Etta Bartram of Roper and Donna Hall of Belleville, MI; three brothers, Billy, Ricky, and Ronny McNair, all of Roper; five beloved grandchildren, Alden Amrhein, Brooke and Fred Benham, and Robby and Troy McNair.; and many nieces and nephews.

   Private services will be held, and to honor his many acts of kindness, the family asks that you do something for another, in remembrance of Bobby, aka “Bubba”. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
