Lillian Thompson Hinds

   Lillian Thompson “Honnie” Hinds, 93, of Moyock, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Elizabeth City.

 

   Born in Danville, VA on December 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Margie Mills Thompson. A devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she was a devout Christian and a faithful member of her church in Mount Dora, FL where she had a caring circle of friends and neighbors. She had a keen sense of humor and a contagious laugh, always ready to playfully banter with her loved ones. Honnie was an LPN who preferred private duty nursing but also worked in various nursing homes throughout her career, her favorite one being St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children in Norfolk, VA.

 

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hinds; brothers, William H., Frederick, and James Thompson; sisters, Thelma Buchanan, Jewell Stone, Katherine Havens, Louise Foster, and Marty Foster; and nieces, Karen Whitehurst, Marsha Buchanan, and Marty Lou Sullivan.

 

    Surviving are her daughter, Donna “Dee” Stace (Richard) of Moyock; her son, William “Billy” Hinds (Cookie) of Live Oak, FL; two granddaughters, Christina Ashley of Grandy and Carrie Roberge of Live Oak; five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Lisa, Matthew, Rainey and River; four great-great-grandchildren, Giana, Jr., McKenna and Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Marion Hinds of Scranton, PA; and an adopted son, Robert Hinds (Ray Benton) of Portsmouth, VA.

 

   A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk, VA.

 

   Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
