Wilys King Taylor, 94, of Middle Swamp Road, Corapeake, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017, in Gates House Assisted Living, Gatesville.
Mrs. Taylor was born on December 21, 1922, in Portsmouth, VA and was the daughter of the late Junious Leb and Mary Baines King. A homemaker, prior to her marriage she was employed with Planter’s Peanuts & Nut Company, and then later worked as a clerk at Felton’s Cleaners for 23 years. A member of Parker’s United Methodist Church in Corapeake, she was a longtime member of its United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Barnes Taylor, and by her brother, William Dillard “Bill” King.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Kathryn Kittrell and husband George Parker Kittrell, Jr. of Corapeake; her son, Jerry A. Taylor and wife Catherine Bass Taylor of Brandon, FL; four grandchildren, John Taylor Kittrell (Renee`), G.P. Kittrell, III, Julia Taylor Collett (Eric), and Jay Taylor (Frances); nine great-grandchildren, Kassandra, Rachel, and Taylor Collett, Alex and Shannon Taylor, and John Sigmon, Kathryn Rebecca, Caleb Parker, and Justin Taylor Kittrell; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Parker’s United Methodist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastor Carroll Bundy. Friends may join the family at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service, or all other times at 369 Parker’s Fork Road, Corapeake.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parker’s United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in care of John Taylor Kittrell, 1250 NC 32 N, Corapeake, NC 27926.
