Jimmy Wayne Wilder, Sr., 72, of 815 Wynne Fork Road, Hertford, NC, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 in his home following a year long battle with cancer.
Mr. Wilder was born in Gates County on May 15, 1944, and was the son of the late Charlie Elmer and Louise White Wilder. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he retired from Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth after 33 years of employment. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Emilie Wilder Garrett and her husband Curtis.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 52 years, Judy Faye Owens Wilder; three sons, Jimmy Wayne Wilder, Jr. and wife Renee and Toby Scott Wilder, both of Edenton, and Aaron Brent Wilder of Hertford; his sister, Iris Wilder Copeland and husband Ervin of Corapeake; four grandchildren, Laura "Belle" Fanning and husband William, Austin Wilder, Lauren Wilder, and Tyler Wilder; and his feline companion, Missy.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by Stewart Nixon. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
