Estelle Jones Buck

   Estelle Jones Buck, 91, of Hazelton Road, Gates, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 30, 2017, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

   Mrs. Buck was born in Gates County on October 6, 1925, and was the daughter of Button and Mary Caroline Jones. A homemaker and farmer’s wife who worked tobacco with her husband, she was a member of Savage’s United Methodist Church, and in years past had worked with the Gates County Democratic Committee. A woman with an outgoing personality, she never met a stranger, and loved to sing, dance, and talk.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Jordan Buck; her son, Roy Buck; her sister, Marie Fleming; and by her brothers, Robert and Dovelle Jones.

   Surviving are her son, Carl Buck and wife Cindy of Gates; and three grandchildren, Reid, Alison, and Renee`.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Savage’s United Methodist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Carroll Bundy, Billy Presley, and Joe Buck.  Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service, and a private burial will be in the church cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Savage’s U.M.C., in care of Mallory Buck, 210 Mallory Buck Road, Gates, NC 27937.
