Linda Gibbs Burroughs, 73, of Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, in the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.
Linda was born in Norfolk, VA on July 20, 1943, and was the daughter of the late June Donovan and Ronnie Gibbs. A graduate of Norview High School in Norfolk, she began a career working in the clerical field. In her free time, she enjoyed the beach, and in later years after moving to North Carolina to be closer to her family in Tyrrell County, she made many faithful friends. While living in Edenton, she met and married Bernard P. “Bunk” Burroughs, and together they shared many happy times, going to Edenton Steamer baseball games, spending time with family and friends, eating out, and attending Cape Colony Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie L. Gibbs, Jr.
Surviving are her husband, “Bunk”; her sisters, Frances Perry and husband Tim, Bonnie Lancaster and husband Ron; a brother, Michael McPhee; a step-daughter, Janet Tysor and husband Larkin; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6th, at 11:00 a.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ, 831 Soundside Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Greg Biggs.
