E. Burnell Heath

   Eldon Burnell Heath, 89, of Emory Lane, Sunbury, NC, died Friday, May 12, 2017 in Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center.

    Mr. Heath was born in Camden County on January 9, 1928, and was the son of the late Eldon B. and Margaret Leary Heath. He had served in the Coast Guard, retired from the US Air Force, and later was employed in civil service. After moving to Sunbury he became a member of Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Crummey Heath, and by a half-sister, Wanda Booher.

   Surviving are his daughter, Margaret Strain and husband George of Hertford; three step-daughters, Edith Moore and husband Mike, Mary Jane Pierce and husband Ray, and Victoria Walker and fiancé Larry Duprey, all of Sunbury; two brothers, J. B. Heath of Virginia Beach, VA and Bobby Heath of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Rose Begin, also of Chesapeake; a half-sister, Abby Tillman of Tampa, FL; three step-grandchildren, Tony, Johnny, and Penny; six step-great-grandchildren, Matthew, Amber, Jennie, Ashley, Zach, and Abigail; and two step-great-great-granddaughters, Mikayla and Karly.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Tom Hall. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
