Virginia Hassell Davis, 75, of 1639 Lane’s Landing Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, in Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center, Elizabeth City.
Mrs. Davis was born in Tyrrell County on June 2, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Jack and Lela Hassell. Retired from Stihl Corp. in Virginia Beach, and a former employee of Lockheed Martin in Chesapeake, she was a Jehovah Witness by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. “Dave” Davis, and by two brothers, Lindsey and William James Hassell.
Surviving are her daughter, Sybil Edwards (Bill) of Surry, VA; five sons, Edward F. Davis, Chester H. Davis, and Chris Davis, all of Edenton, Willis Austin (Sue) of Hobbsville, and Craig Davis (Donna) of Whitehouse, TN; five sisters, Diane Stone of Elizabeth City, Joyce Bodner of Charlotte, Rena Love of Chesapeake, VA, Peggy Cooper of Florida, and Frances Ferebee of Portsmouth, VA; two brothers, Monte Gene Hassell of Raleigh, and Ronald Cooper of Columbia; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the home of her son, 427 Gliden Road, Hobbsville.
