Joseph James Foy, Jr.

   Joseph James “Joe” Foy, Jr., 83, of 72 Folly Road, Sunbury, NC, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 in his home.

   Mr. Foy was born in Jones County on December 24, 1933, and was the son of the late Joseph James, Sr. and Eunice Eubank Foy. A retired truck driver, he had been employed with Eastern Fuels of Edenton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Harrington and Edith Johns; a brother, Billy Foy; and by three grandchildren, Shannon, Ashley, and B.J.

   Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Betty Daugherty Foy; three daughters, Lynn Hassell and husband Russell of Sunbury, Lori Reynolds and husband Robert and Kris Stepps and husband Lee, both of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Hilda Barbee and Corrine Coward, both of New Bern, and Geri Adams of Clayton; five grandchildren, Ryan, Spring, Tiffany, Andy, and Tucker; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery, and will be officiated by Pastor Irvin Ambrose. Friends may join the family at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
