William Franklin “Frank” Waterfield, 82, of 201 Hall Street, Aulander, NC, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 in his home.
Mr. Waterfield was born in Norfolk, VA on March 7, 1935, and was the son of the late William Leven and Ruth Virginia Pope Waterfield. Retired from Hampton Roads Transit, he was an Army veteran having served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Waterfield; a son, Harry Waterfield; two sisters, Mildred Robinson and Evelyn Johnson; and by three brothers, Willie, Edward, and Harry Waterfield.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Betty Dunning Waterfield; four sons, Frank, Jimmy, Kenny, and David Waterfield, Sr. (Karyn); a step-daughter, Beth Banks (Jonathan); a sister, Ruth Simpson; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1469 NC Hwy 11 South, Aulander, and will be officiated by The Rev. Phil Terry. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hall Rogerson Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church during the hour prior to the services on Thursday, and all other times at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
