Emma Ward Ambrose

   Emma Ward Ambrose, 88, of 1380 NC 32 North, Corapeake, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, in Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation, Nansemond Point, Suffolk, VA.

   Mrs. Ambrose was born in Suffolk on August 26, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Merritt and Una Vera Jones Ward. Retired from Lipton Tea, she was a faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church, the Ida K. Brinkley Sunday School Class, and the Young At Heart Senior Group.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Evelyn Wilkins.

   Surviving are her husband of nearly 64 years, Hubert Ambrose; her son, Al Ambrose and wife Terri of Corapeake; two granddaughters, Corey A. Jones and husband Donnie, and Ashley A. Preedy and husband Earl; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kenlee Jones, and Georgia Preedy; a niece, Louise Welch of Bedford, VA; and her devoted caregiver and companion, Jerome Hudson.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Eureka Baptist Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. David Lawson. The burial will be private in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home 304 Main Street, Gatesville, or in the church social hall immediately after the service on Wednesday, or all other times at Al and Terri’s home, 1328 NC 32 North, Corapeake.
