Katie Brown

   Cathryn Louise “Katie” Hurst Brown, 69, of 101 Hickory Lane, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.    Mrs. Brown was born in Union County, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Harry Robert and Hazel Lucinda Webb Hurst. She had retired as the nurse in the office of Dr. James F. O’Leary in Edenton.    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kenneth Brown.    Surviving are her son, Robert E. Barker (Kelly) of Cove City; daughters, Lisa Brown (Bruce White) of Tyner, and Debra Gersh (Don) of Fayetteville; three sisters, Patty Worthington, Anita Bridges, and Laura Dillow, all of Anna, IL; a brother, John Paul Hurst of Richland, MO; nine grandchildren, Robbie, Katie, Jeremy, Stephanie, Kent, Jeff, Michael, Ben, and Jacob; and 17 great-grandchildren.    A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. A private committal service will follow at the grave plot in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
