Joseph Hardy Stroud, Jr., 65, of 218 Mulberry Hill Lane, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, in the Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.
Mr. Stroud was born in Halifax County on August 21, 1951, and was the son of the late Joseph H. Stroud, Sr., and Florence Penwell Stroud. A graduate of UNC-W, he was a retired Automotive Technology teacher from John A. Holmes High School, and had also taught in the Perquimans and Forsyth Counties public school systems. Later, in 2010, he retired from the family business, Stroud & Son, Inc. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand with the United States Air Force.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 48 years, Bonnie White Stroud; two daughters, Kimberly Stroud Morris and husband Donald of Currituck, and Summer Stroud Santana and husband Mike of Wilmington; a son, Joseph H. Stroud, III of Edenton; two sisters, Deborah Bowen of Windsor, and Lula Simon of Garner; and five grandchildren, Parker Leigh Morris, Joanna Peyton Morris, Donald Arthur Morris, III, Sloan Kelly Santana, and Margot Fenlee Santana.
Friends may join the family Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
