William Ike “Ikey” Davis, 70, of 504 N. Broad Street, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mr. Davis was born in Pasquotank County on February 19, 1947, and was the son of the late William Kader and Sadie Mae Mizzelle Leary Davis. A graduate of John A. Holmes High School, he was active with the Aces sports program having been a star athlete in both football and track. Retired from United Parcel Service following 31 years of employment, he was a former member of both the Edenton Jaycees and Great Bridge Post #280 of the American Legion. He was an Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Jean Dail and Hazel Severance.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Gail Costello Davis; three daughters, Wanda Oliver and husband Buddy, Pam Bond and husband Herman, and Kelly Conrad, all of Edenton; three sons, Johnny Davis of Greenville, Todd Davis of Nags Head, and Jay Conrad and wife Teressa of Edenton; a sister, Maizel Dunlow of Edenton; a brother, Samuel Kader Davis of Statesville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Revs. Randy Pierce and Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
