Kenneth Gene Peters, Sr.

   Kenneth Gene Peters, Sr., 80, of 112 Huron Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in his home where he was surrounded by his family.

 

   Mr. Peters was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on August 26, 1937, and was the son of the late Arthur F., Sr. and Ethel Buchmeier Peters. A retired Quality Control Supervisor with Lyondel Corp., he was a member of Edenton United Methodist Church, and had formerly been a member of the Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion, the Board of the Arrowhead Beach Property Owner’s Association, and had served as President of the Chowan Ruritan Club.

 

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur F. Peters, II; and by a great-granddaughter.

 

   Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Hall Peters; three daughters, Anne Battle and husband Terence of Newport News, VA, Laurie Tuman and husband Wesley of Elizabeth City, and Rebecca Clarke and husband Aaron of Fuquay-Varina; a son, Kenneth G. “Kip” Peters, Jr. and wife Jodi of Newton, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

 

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton United Methodist Church and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. W. Christopher Aydlett. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
