Mr. Boyce was born in Perquimans County on July 14, 1932, and was the son of the late William Wood “Bill” and Elizabeth Lane Boyce. Mr. Boyce retired from Westinghouse/TCOM in 1995, and prior to that employment, in years past he had worked with Albemarle Electric Membership Cooperative, and also as a self-employed electrician. A member of Hertford United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army Signal Corps. Many in the area will remember his love of fishing, especially for Striped Bass.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Carroll Boyce.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 65 years, Janice Yagel Boyce; two daughters, Denise “Dee” Boyce of Greenville, and Dawn Boyce Martin and husband Larry of Houston, TX; a son, Christopher Eugene Boyce of Hertford; three grandchildren, Shannon Ward of Greenville, Dustin Eugene Rodriguez of Houston, and Jessica Lauren Rodriguez of Los Angeles, CA; three great-grandchildren, Tylor Winslow, and Chase and Hayden Ward; and his beloved canine companion, “Little Lady”.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. K. Bryan Sexton, Jr. Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
