Gladys Marie Hamilton Harris, 88, formerly of Bryans Road, MD, and more recently of 47 Home Port Lane, Gates, NC, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 in her home.
Mrs. Harris was born in Pickens, WV on August 7, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Kermit Quentin and Edna Mae Williams Hamilton. A homemaker, she was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, and had been active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department for a total of 39 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Richard Harris, and by a sister, Retha Claypool.
Surviving are her two daughters, Janet Tranquillo and husband Steven of Gates and Deborah Bell of Boca Raton, FL; a son, William “Billy” Harris and wife Tami of Waldorf, MD; a sister, Virginia Wilson of Fort Myers, FL; six grandsons, Richard and Scott Rison, Brian Dooley, and Eric, Christian, and Trevor Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, at 4:00 p.m. in the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bryans Road Vol. Fire Department, 3099 Livingston Road, Bryans Road, MD 20616.
