Jo Sharion Mitchell Winn

   Jo Sharion Mitchell Winn, 68, of 335H Millennium Road, Aulander, NC, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mrs. Winn was born in Bertie County on February 9, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Percy Lee and Margaret Williford Mitchell.  A retired Paraoptometric Technician with various eye care specialists in Northern Virginia, she had also worked as a cashier with CareFirst, and in Medical Records at Lorton Prison.  A member of St. John Baptist Church, she also had enjoyed her membership in the Occoquan, VA Chapter #59, The Order of the Eastern Star, during her time of living in that community.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her sister, Lenora Hughes, and by her brothers, Sidney and Wilson Mitchell.

   Surviving are her husband of nearly 50 years, Thomas Parks “Tommy” Winn; her daughter, Angie Winn Prados and husband Paul of Herndon, VA; four sisters, Patricia Penwell and Winnifred Mitchell, both of Aulander, Stella Hofler of Gatesville, and Julia Dixon of Grifton; a brother, Julius Mitchell of Aulander; and three grandchildren, Evan Anthony Prados, Primrose Anne Prados, and Finch Lillianne Prados.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 15th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Baptist Church, and will conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Douglas L. Van Niel, and by a longtime family friend, The Rev. Billy Presley.  A private burial will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery.  Friends may join the family at the home of her sister, Winnifred Mitchell, 138 Ray Farmer Road, Aulander.  Also there will be a time to speak with the family both just before, and immediately following, the service on Friday.
