Lucille Darden Blanchard, 76, of 147 Sandy Ridge Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017, in Vidant Chowan Hospital where she was surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Blanchard was born in Isle of Wight County, VA, on April 5, 1941, was the daughter of Elmer and Martha Gardner Darden, and raised in a large family of 16 children. Formerly employed with George C. Moore Company, she had retired from Harvey Point Defense Testing Activity, and was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leslie Earl Blanchard, on June 26, 2016.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Teresa and Harry Ward, and Craig and Vickie Blanchard, all of Tyner; two sisters, Nell Kauss and Lois Turner, both of Franklin, VA; two brothers, Cliff Darden of Franklin and James “Bro” Darden of Richmond, VA; three granddaughters, Micah Lynch (Chad), and Rachel and Sarah Ward; three step-grandchildren, Kristie Williams (David), and Tony and Mandy Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Raelyn Lynch; and two step-great-grandchildren, Drew Jordan and Kristen Williams.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Center Hill Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Blanchard and the Rev. Buck Leary. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
