Roy Maurice Onley

   Roy Maurice Onley, 80, of 750 Body Road, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in his home.

   Mr. Onley was born in Camden County on March 3, 1937, and was the son of the late Leroy and Jessie Smithson Onley. Retired from civil service following 33 years of employment, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Elizabeth City, and had served in the Army National Guard.

   Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ronnie Jean Berry Onley; two sons, Steve Onley (Denise) of Elizabeth City and Stan Onley (Ania) of Lake Havasu, AZ; a daughter, Sheri Raynor (Andrew), also of Elizabeth City; five grandchildren, T.J Harris (Jenn) of Elizabeth City, Mandy Marable (Scott) of Moyock, Brad Onley (Cindy) of Virginia Beach, VA, April Onley of Edenton; and Megan Onley (Jessie) of Elizabeth City; 10 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Preston, Hunter, Dylan, Damien, Aubrey, Maile, Payton, Cameron, and Fletcher; and his special buddy and canine companion, Paco.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, at 4:00 p.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene. Friends may join the family in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to the building fund of First Church of the Nazarene, 1085 US Hwy 17 S., Elizabeth City, NC 27909, or to a charity of one's choice.
