Donald Eugene Baker

   Donald Eugene Baker, 69, of 148 Pier Landing, South Mills, NC, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 in his home.

 

   Mr. Baker was born in Vigo County, IN on April 27, 1948, and was the son of the late Donald Francis and Margaret Mary Gayso Baker. An Army veteran having served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Baker.

 

   Surviving are his three sons, Don Baker and wife Kamalla of St. John, IN, Kevin Baker and wife Lynette of Spirit Lake, IN, and Eric Baker and wife Melissa of South Mills; nine grandchildren, Brianna, Zion, Gavin, Brye, Westin, Ariell, Angeleah, Caitlyn, and Mercedes, and a grandson due to be born in February; and a great-grandson, Layton.

 

   A celebration of his life will be held Friday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. at the residence.

 

   The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Albemarle Home Care & Hospice, and to his special friends and caregivers, Sandy and Elisa, who dearly loved "Gramps" with all their heart.
