John Edward Peay

   John Edward Peay, 77, of 160 Corner High Road, Eure, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mr. Peay was born in Washington, DC on February 11, 1940, and was the son of the late Edward H. and Edith Van Horn Peay. A retired foreman machinist from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and had also served in the Virginia National Guard.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Tingen Peay.

   Surviving are two sons, Jay E. Peay and wife Brandice of Eure, and Jeffrey L. Howell and wife Pattie of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Anne Lane of Mechanicsville, VA; four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Breighlyn, Jennifer, and Landen; and two great-granddaughters.

   Memorial services with burial in the Jacksonville Florida Veterans Cemetery are being planned and will be announced by the family.
