Florence Norfleet Lassiter

   Florence Norfleet Lassiter, 95, formerly of Hobbsville, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

   Mrs. Lassiter was born in Suffolk on September 15, 1922, and was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Celia Boyce Norfleet. Retired from Lipton Tea after more than 25 years of employment, she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Lassiter; her son, Tommy Franks; and by her sister, Cornelia Babb.

   Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Grefe and husband Charles of Harrisonburg, VA; a son, James A. “Jimmy” Franks and wife Linda of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Paige Franks of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a special friend and companion, Elmer Bunch of Hobbsville.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Zion United Methodist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Steve Hall. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and the graveside rites in Damascus Church Cemetery in Sunbury will follow that reception.
