Elma Quidley Markham

   Elma Quidley Markham, 87, of Elizabeth City, NC passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Concordia Health and Rehabilitation, Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Markham was born in Hyde County on December 17, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Harry Walton and Allie Pugh Quidley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Harrell Markham; a daughter, Darlene Markham Gray; a son, Harrell Ray Markham; and by three sisters, Aldean Martin, Doris Brink, and Thelma Gray Divers.

   Surviving are her four daughters, Linda Story and husband Robert of Virginia Beach, VA, Sandra Fix and husband Danny of Lexington, VA, Gay Girdlestone of Currituck, and Lisa Hall and husband David of Elizabeth City; four sons, Ronald Markham and wife Belinda of Elizabeth City, Donald Markham and wife Delores of Hertford, Vernon Douglas Markham and wife Joan of Currituck, and Michael Markham of Fort Walton Beach, FL; three sisters, Edith Kelsick and Dale Jordan, both of Elizabeth City, and Helen Godfrey of Hertford; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

   A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Park Cemetery, and will be officiated by Pastor Preston Pitchford. Friends may join the family at the home of her son, Ronald, 113 Chappell Gardens Drive, Elizabeth City.

   Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
