Olivia Chappell Freeman

   Olivia Mae Chappell Freeman, 93, of 123 Newberry Landing, Roper, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017, in her home.

   Mrs. Freeman was born in Perquimans County on December 30, 1923, and was the daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth Balzora Elliott Chappell. The retired manager of the Norfolk General Nutrition Corp. Store, she had also worked at the Naval Supply Center in Norfolk, was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and its choir, enjoyed sewing and Square Dancing, and was a Colonial Reenactment Demonstrator.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard James Freeman; her sister, Alberta “Bertie” Chappell Henley; and by her brothers, W. Aydlett, Louis, Maynard “Shorty”, and Keesey Chappell.

   Surviving are her children, Kathleen Freeman Morris, Dorothy Freeman Crow, and Robert Howard Freeman; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11th, at 11:30 a.m. in Oak Grove Baptist Church, 15939 NC Hwy 32 North, Roper, NC, and will be conducted by Pastor J.N. Worsley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church for a time of visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
