Bernice Lee Parker Myrick, 92, a resident of Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edenton, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Myrick was born on May 17, 1925 in the Mapleton, NC community of Hertford County, and was the daughter of the late Dorsey and Emily Artis Parker. For many years she worked in child care, and later was a caregiver for the elderly. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Edenton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harvey Myrick, and by her son, Harvey Lee Myrick.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Esther Bishop-Chance (Melvinn) of Suitland, Maryland; two sisters, Annette Reid (Horace), and Gertrude Jones, both of Brooklyn, NY; four grandchildren, Harvey Lemuel Myrick, Bettina Myrick-Bergan (Berthram), Jeremy Myrick, and Ashley Myrick-Ellis (Jacque); seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her spiritually adopted daughter, Catherine McFadden (Louis); her sister-in-law, Betty Sue Parker, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
On August 15, 1959 she dedicated her life to Jehovah by water baptism as one of Jehovah Witnesses. Over the years she regularly enjoyed the privilege of sharing Bible truths with others in her public ministry. Also, she occasionally served as a pioneer assisting other honest hearted ones to dedicate their lives to Jehovah. Bernice loved teaching them about God’s Kingdom which will bring paradise conditions to the earth wherein pain and death will be no more. Rev. 21:4
The viewing will be held Wednesday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1534 North Broad Street, Edenton. The funeral service will begin immediately following the viewing. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
