Dottie Owens

   Dorothy Idell "Dottie" Royals Owens, 81, of 107 Choctaw Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mrs. Owens was born in South Bend, Indiana on July 25, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Edgar Louis Royals, Sr. and Grace Jackson Royals.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Abbitt Barlow "Al" Owens; two brothers, Edgar L. Royals, Jr. and Walter T. Royals; and by her longtime companion, Bruce Rountree.

   Surviving are her children, Roanna Sessoms Rowlette and husband Michael of Radcliff, KY, Cheryl Owens Hollomon and husband Marty of Chesapeake, VA, Steve Owens of Fort Lawn, SC, and Teresa Owens Sawyer and husband Kent, and Kenny Owens and wife Tanya, all of Hertford; two sisters, Frances Royals Boullion and husband Stan of Bridge City, TX and Ellen Royals Archer of New Vienna, OH; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Marty Jr., Daniel, Katie and husband Brad, Sara, Rachel, Kenny, Jenny, and Miranda; and ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Evan, Aria, Kathy, Ethan, Seth, Halee, Brody, Adalyn, and Rylan.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. The burial will be held later that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service on Saturday, and all other times at Teresa and Kent's home, 116 Howell Street, Hertford.
