Artelia Lamb Hobbs

   Artelia Lamb Hobbs, 94, of 428 Hobbsville Road, Hobbsville, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, in her home.

   Mrs. Hobbs was born in Perquimans County on August 5, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lamb and Sophronia Boyce Lamb Chappell. A homemaker, she was a faithful member of Hobbsville Baptist Church where she had served in the Adult Choir and as an Assistant Sunday School Teacher, and had also enjoyed membership in the former Gatesville Chapter #126, The Order of the Eastern Star.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Hobbs; her step-father, Purvis Chappell; a sister, Ellodia Hathaway; a brother, Benny Lamb; and a son-in-law, Johnny Odom.

   Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl H. Hutchins and husband Robert of Belvidere, Gloria H. Odom of Roanoke Rapids, and Debbie H. Forehand and husband Tommy of Hobbsville; a son, Wayne Hobbs of Portsmouth, VA; nine grandchildren, Randy Odom and wife Jan, Scott Odom, Crystal Manning and husband James Ellis, Heavenly Hicks and husband Keven, R.W. Hobbs and wife Shelly, Felicia Buchner and husband Buddy, Gretchen Byrum and husband Michael, Jamie Forehand and wife Lorna, and Christopher Forehand and wife Amanda; and 16 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Hobbsville Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Tim Dannelly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
