Lois Hurdle Nixon

   Lois Ann Hurdle Nixon, 77, of 119 Parrish Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017, in her home where she was surrounded by her family.      Mrs. Nixon was born in Perquimans County on July 1, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Harold Henderson and Celesta Godwin Hurdle. A graduate of the Louise Obici School of Nursing in Suffolk, VA, she worked for 38 years in the office of Dr. Bernie Baker, and after his retirement, continued to work with Drs. Boehling and Francis. A faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, she served as President of the Christeen Peele Sunday School Class.      Surviving are her husband of 56 years, J.C. Nixon, Jr.; two daughters; Rene N. Smith and husband Phil, and Lori N. White and husband Jay, all of Edenton; her brother, Harold Lindsey Hurdle and wife Annette of Wilson; and six grandchildren, Brandon Smith and wife Patricia, Lindsay and Lauren Smith, and Joshua, Chelsea, and Dylan White.      Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery.
