Johnnie Rheuben Phthisic

   Johnnie Rheuben Phthisic, 76, of 1756 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in his home.

   Mr. Phthisic was born in Perquimans County on March 3, 1941, and was the son of the late Wilbur and Dorothy Cartwright Phthisic. He was a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Congrove Phthisic, and by a brother, Milton Phthisic.

   Surviving are his four children, Deborah Bogush and husband John of New Church, VA, William Badgley and wife Ginger of South Mills, Patti Hite of Belvidere, and Robert "Fuzzy" Phthisic and wife Alice of Winfall; two sisters, Doris Hollowell of Hobbsville and Faye Proctor of Hertford; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Piney Woods Friends Meeting and will be conducted by Pastors Jeremy Pugh and Boyce Porter. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the meeting house immediately following the service on Saturday.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
