D.T. Hurdle

   Daniel Thomas "D.T." Hurdle, 95, of Craney Island Road, Belvidere, NC, died Monday, December 18, 2017 in his home.

   Mr. Hurdle was born in Perquimans County on September 20, 1922, and was the son of the late Jerome West and Flora Ward Hurdle. A retired logger, he was a Navy veteran having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Luton Hurdle; a son, Danny Carroll Hurdle; a step-son-in-law, Bertran Munden; and by sisters, Alice Hofler, Florine Weeks, and Delma Ann Dale.

   Surviving are his two sons, Donald T. Hurdle and wife Sally of Norfolk, VA and Robert W. Hurdle and wife Christy of Belvidere; a step-daughter, Brenda S. Munden of Elizabeth City; a step-son, Linwood W. Fentress and wife Pam of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Carolyn Sanders of Newport News, VA; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Jay Rivenbark. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
