Carroll Edward Tynch, Sr., 70, of 201 Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017, in his home.
Mr. Tynch was born in Chowan County on February 14, 1947, and was the son of the late Charles Spurgeon, Sr. and Thelma Virginia Goodwin Tynch. The owner of Carroll’s Cabinet Shop, he was also a commercial fisherman. A member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and its Senior Choir, he had served six years in the United States Coast Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Asbell.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Tynch Wende and husband George of Buda, TX and Angela Tynch Lilley and husband Jeffrey of Washington, NC; a son, Carroll Edward “C.J.” Tynch, Jr. and his fiancé Tina of Goldsboro; three sisters, Mabel McGann of Bowie, MD, Jeanette White of Colerain, and Margie Fulghum of Newport News, VA; four brothers, Spurgeon Tynch, Jr., Stanley Tynch, Aubrey Tynch, and Ricky Tynch, all of Edenton; and five grandchildren, Brett, Virginia, Andrew, James, and Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church, and will be conducted by his pastor, Dr. James Horton. The burial will be in the Tynch Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the vestibule of the church immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
