Gary Keith Kennedy

   Gary Keith Kennedy, 81, of Hertford, NC, died Friday, January 5, 2018 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

 

   Mr. Kennedy was born in Gouverneur, NY on May 1, 1936, and was the son of the late Glenn and Bertha Griffis Kennedy. A retired Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy following 23 years of service, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Kennedy.

 

   Surviving are his three daughters, Debbie Cauley and husband Dwight of Elizabeth City, Kelly George and husband Teddy of Norfolk, VA, and Lisa Hare and husband Kenny of Tyner; a son, Gary James Kennedy of Edenton; a sister, Sharon Hoffman; four brothers, Bob, Jack, Shane, and Tim Kennedy, all of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Jason, Jake, Angel, Andrew, Brittany, and Shaun; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by the Rev. Howard Sutton. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

 

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
